There are usually plenty of flights to Paris at any given time. This is tribute to the city's popularity as well as the fact that it is a major hub of air travel. Paris has two main airports: Orly in the south and Charles de Gaulle (often shortened to CDG) in the north, near the village of Roissy.
A variety of airlines offer flights to Paris. Many Middle Eastern airlines use Paris as a stopover on long-haul flights. However, if you're going to Paris for a short holiday, you will probably be using British Airways, Air France or a budget airline. The budget airlines are discussed in our page on cheap flights to Paris. Air France tends to be slightly more expensive than British Airways, although it depends on when and where you are travelling, as sometimes they offer deals. Bear in mind too that Air France includes taxes when you are given your first calculation of the flight's cost, whereas British Airways don't add the tax until further along in the booking process, which can give the illusion of the flight costing less than it does. When you consider this, the price differences don't seem as large.
Consider these pages for busses + metro, national trains, airport transfers and airport information.
Air France allows you to travel in Tempo (economy class) or L'Espace Affaires (business class) on flights to Paris, but there is no first-class Air France service between the UK and France. British Airways offer various grades of economy (you pay more for the privilege of being able to change your booking) and club class. As for airports, Air France tend to fly mainly to Charles de Gaulle, but also have some flights to Orly. British Airways only flies to Charles de Gaulle.
After your flight, reaching the city centre is easy from either airport, even if you don't want to get a taxi. From CDG Airport, you have a choice of options: the Air France Bus, the RoissyBus or the high-speed train. If you land at Terminal 2, you will be very conveniently situated for the train to central Paris, so this is probably the best option. However, if you land at Terminal 1, getting the train means first getting the (free) airport shuttle bus to Terminal 2, so you might as well get the bus to the city centre. The RoissyBus is cheaper than the Air France bus, but the RER train is cheaper than either.
From Orly, you also have a choice: the Air France Bus, the OrlyBus, or the train. Trains leave every five to ten minutes, whereas buses leave every fifteen to twenty minutes, so the train is the quicker option. The bus is usually slightly cheaper, but there isn't a very significant difference in fares.
The Paris Airport Shuttle is a minivan service that some travellers use after flights to Paris if they have too much luggage to get to the bus stop. However, it's more expensive than the transport options already mentioned. Car hire is probably not worth the expense, especially given the excellent choice of other forms of transport.
