Cheap Hotels in Paris - Paris Weekend Breaks
Paris Accommodation: Cheap Hotels > Mid-range Hotels > Luxury HotelsCheap hotels in Paris aren't confined to just one particular area, although you're unlikely to find much budget accommodation on the Champs-Elyssés, for example. Even fairly upmarket areas have some reasonably priced hotels, but the general rule is that the better the area, the more you will pay for a decent hotel.
Seasoned travellers will already know that Paris is divided into districts, or arrondissements. The 10th arrondissement has some hotels suitable for budget travellers, and it's very handy for the Gare Du Nord railway (where the Eurostar stops) and metro station. There aren't many exciting tourist attractions in the 10th arrondissement, which is partly why hotel prices are so low. However, there are some good, reasonably priced restaurants. Hotel de l'Europe is a two-star hotel where you can get a room from about €40. You could also try the Hotel Maubeuge, which has occasional discounts that bring the price per person per room down to less than €40.

The 11th arrondissement has plenty of parks and trendy cafés. It's home to Hotel Richard, where you could pay as little as €20 per person per night. However, be warned that the private room for four people contains two double beds, not four singles. Other cheap hotels in Paris can be found in the 17th arrondissement, not far from the Arc de Triomphe. The Camellia International Hotel on Rue Darcet offers occasional deals that mean you can find a room for €50 per person per night; good value for a quiet street ten minutes' walk from the Sacre Coeur.
When you're looking for cheap hotels in Paris, remember that prices aren't set in stone. Hotels change their prices according to the season, and sometimes offer excellent limited-period discounts. July and August are good months to look for hotel discounts, but many hotels offer them at other points of the year too. Using the Internet is the best way of finding up-to-date offers. You should also keep an eye out for which hotels are being modernised, as they often provide large discounts for the first customers after renovation. This kind of information can be found in local newspapers, but the Internet is probably the best bet if you're coming from overseas.
But don't forget that cheap hotels aren't the only low-cost accommodation in Paris. There are also several youth hostels. For example, the Jules Ferry Hostel has views of the Sacre Coeur. In France, there is no maximum age for staying in a youth hostel, but you do have to be a member of the Youth Hostels Association (YHA). The website of the French Youth Hostels Federation (FUAJ, or Federation Unie Des Auberges De Jeunesse) allows you to search areas for hostels. Click here to go to the site. Staying in a hostel in Paris will cost you around €20 for the night.
