The London Palladium is one of London's most distinguished historical theatres. Situated on Argyll Street on the West End, the theater dates back over a century to the 1880s when it was originally the site of a famous circus. The theatre as we know it today was designed by an architect named Frank Matcham and opened on the 26 December 1910. Almost a century later, the London Palladium is still going strong, housing popular productions such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The King and I.

Past productions at the theatre included major musicals such as Singin' in the Rain, La Cage Aux Follies and Oliver as well as dancing spectaculars like Fiddler on the Roof and Saturday Night Fever. In the 1930s the theatre was famous for its comedies, performed by a group of comedians who later came to be known as the Crazy Gang. Today, productions at the theatre typically run for between one and two years and in some cases have been known to run for up to four years.

The London Palladium can seat approximately 2300 people on three different levels. Ticket prices range from £ 12 to £ 40 depending on where in the theatre you wish to sit and the time of day that you are attending a production. Afternoon shows are usually at 2.30pm, while evening productions are staged between 7 and 7.30pm. Evening productions generally cost more, as do shows on Fridays and Saturdays.

The simplest way to get to the theatre is by bus or underground. Oxford Circus tube station is situated less than 130m from the theatre and when you exit the station; simply walk up Argyll Street and you will see the London Palladium on your left hand side. A number of buses also run past the theatre regularly.

For more information about the theatre and productions currently being staged at the Palladium, contact the London Palladium on (020) 7494 5020. Tickets for performances can be purchased through Ticketmaster or directly from the theatre.
