The best deals are online where budget carriers and scheduled airlines are pushing sales and dropping fares. Fierce competition on routes out of London means that you'll have the best choice of flights and airports if you're leaving from the capital.
It's important to shop around, don't just assume that budget carriers have the best deals. Often by the time you factor in the cost of transport to the far-flung airports that budget carriers use, the price on the scheduled flights can be cheaper. Budget airline Ryanair has ridiculously low fares mid week but often scheduled carriers Aer Lingus, British Airways and BMI can beat these options on weekend deals. Alternatively you can take the normal city buses No. 41 or 16 which are the slowest, but cheapest route to the city centre. The bus costs about €1.65 and takes about 40 minutes.
