Figueres
Figueres is located 136 km north of Barcelona and is considered one of the largest bordering towns between Catalonia and France. Walk off the food with a visit to the Museu Dalí, which displays some of Dali's Surrealist work and acts as his final burial place. To get there: trains and buses depart regularly from Barcelona.

The craggy mountain of Montserrat is only 40 km northwest of Barcelona. Home to the holiest place in Catalonia, the 9th century Monestir de Montserrat can be accessed by visitors via a cable car strung across the valley. Walk on the mountain, stroll through the basilica and visit the legendary 'Black Virgin' icon that the monastery was built to protect. No Barcelona holiday is complete without a visit to Montserrat. To get there: hop a train from the city in the Plaza d'Espana and then a cable car from Montserrat Aeri.
Stiges in Spain

A favourite holiday spot with the locals, take a day tip out to enjoy the town's beach location, elegant nature and pleasing nightlife. If you go in February or March you might even have a chance to witness the city-wide party Carnaval. To get there: take the train from Estacio-Sants in Barcelona.
Tarragona Spain
Tarragona is an old city located less than 40 km south of Barcelona. Originally settled by the Iberians and then the Carthaginians before the Romans invaded and took over, it's easy to understand why so many desired the city; Tarragona lords over the ocean from a point high on the rocky cliffs.
