Cheapest Flights to Netherlands, Schipol Airport

If you're looking for inexpensive flights to Amsterdam, be aware that prices can double during certain times of the year. Tulip season is a huge to-do in the Netherlands and lasts from late March to the end of June. Prices on flights and accommodation rise as the tourists flood in. Summer is Amsterdam's high season, and so flights are a bit more expensive than during the winter or autumn. However, be aware that in September a number of annual business conventions flood the city, driving up costs.

Amsterdam's international airport, Schipol Airport, is located 14 km from the city centre. To get to and from the city:

Taxi and Trains from Airport

Direct train service runs every 10 to 15 minutes to Amsterdam Central train station. The trip takes between 15 to 20 minutes. A first class single ticket costs €10 and a return is €17. A second class single ticket costs €6.50 and a return is €11.

Buses are available from the airport to the city centre. Buses queue in front of Schipol Plaza. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines operates a bus service that runs from the airport to specific city hotels; tickets cost €6.80 and details are available at the KLM desk in the Arrivals hall.

Taxis can be hailed at the taxi rank located outside the Arrivals hall. Prices depend on your destination, but expect to pay between €20 to €40. The trip to Amsterdam takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes. Taxis may be booked ahead of time through Schipoltaxi.
