Maui Timeshares, Hawaii

Maui timeshares are among the most frequently requested exchange destinations in the US despite only accounting for 20 percent of Hawaii's total number of timeshares. Visited by almost one and a half million people every year, new timeshare development plans are underway to cater for the increasing demand for vacation ownership on this paradise island. Maui is the second most frequently visited island in the Hawaiian chain. It is also the second largest and the second most densely populated island in the chain with more than 130,000 residents.

Like Hawaii, the landscape in Maui is varied with tropical forests and rugged beaches on the east coast while the west coast is much drier, offering perfect conditions for sunbathing and swimming. Maui timeshares are mainly concentrated in the resort areas of Kihei and the historic whaling town of Lahaina where visitors can find some of the most lavish resorts in the Hawaiian Islands. Maui is said to attract a younger crowd of vacationers than both Oahu and Hawaii with its reputation of being a glitzy and exciting destination. Activities such as surfing, windsurfing, diving, sailing, snorkeling, cycling and horseback riding are the main past times of choice.

Known as 'The Valley Island' many of the visitors that pour into Maui each year come to see the two huge extinct volcanoes on either side of a large valley. The main attraction, however, is the Haleakala crater. The world's largest dormant volcano, it can be seen at any point on the island and offers a spectacular view of the sunrise from the top. Hiking, biking and horseback riding tours are available and are a good way to see the sights.

Weather in Maui is fairly consistent all year round with an average high of 87°F during the summer months and a high of 80°F during the slightly cooler winter months. The peak tourist season is from mid-December to the end of March when the weather is coolest. The rainy season extends from December to March but the wettest weather tends to stay in the mountains and on the east coast. One thing to look out for is seasonal changes in water conditions as beaches along the eastern coastline can get dangerous from October to April.

Despite the high demand Maui timeshares generally have mid-range prices of between $20,000 and $30,000 for one week.
