Timeshares in Hawaii
Hawaii timeshares have been credited with attracting more than 400,000 visitors to the islands every year and the industry is said to be growing. Timeshare resorts have been developed on five of the seven Hawaiian Islands and in all four counties. There are approximately 68 timeshare resorts but the number is rising as many more are in the process of being planned and developed. The Hawaiian Islands lie about two thousand miles off the west coast of America and have gained a reputation as one of the best vacation destinations in the world. Indulgence, pampering, lounging and soaking up the sun are on the list of favorite activities but Hawaii is also renowned for excellent surfing, diving, golf and hiking.
The Hawaiian Islands actually consist of more than 100 islands in total but most of them are the tiny uninhabited peaks of underwater volcanoes. Only seven of the largest of these are populated, six of which welcome visitors; Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai and Oahu. Hawaii, often referred to as the Big Island, is twice the size of all the other islands put together and is the most diverse in terms of natural features. The deserts, snow-capped mountains, rainforests, sandy beaches and volcanoes make Hawaii timeshares popular because with such a varied landscape to explore each vacation would have the potential to be different.
The eastern coastline of Hawaii is not for swimmers as north-easterly winds bring pounding waves down on rocky beaches. It is, however, a nature-lover's paradise with rainforests, ravines and spectacular waterfalls providing some of the most beautiful scenery on the island. The west coast is the driest region on the big island as the mountains block the wind and the rain, making the beaches ideal for swimmers and sun-worshippers. The resorts are concentrated in Kona, Waikoloa and Hilo where most Hawaii timeshares can be found.
By far the most in-demand resort area is Waikiki. Situated on the island of Oahu, it is one of the very few places where the demand for timeshares actually exceeds supply. This means a timeshare week in Waikiki would have maximum trading value giving owners the opportunity to exchange for a wider range of vacations at any time of the year. It also happens to be on every surfers' list of top ten destinations with some of the best surfing conditions in the world. Waikiki and the North Shore are both considered a surfers' paradise.
Hawaiian weather remains fairly stable all year round with a winter high of 80°F and a summer high of 87°F. High season is from mid-December to the end of March when temperatures are at their coolest. The wettest period is from December to March but rarely affects the main resort areas on the drier west coast. Swimming is possible all year round on the west coast while beaches along the eastern shoreline can get dangerous between October and April.
