Santa Susanna has a good range of holiday accommodation - from modern hotels down at the beachfront to campsites and self-catering apartments and villas. There are no luxurious four and five star hotels here but the three-star hotels all offer easy access to the beach, private pools and a good range of facilities geared to the demands of international tourists. Most provide full board with buffet-style meals and lay on entertainment during high season.

Before travelling, check with your tour operator to see whether your chosen hotel provides entertainment in your own language as English holidaymakers here have complained that the entertainers in some hotels only spoke Spanish, Dutch and German. It's also worth checking to see whether the hotel has a kids' clubs and early activities for children (so you get the chance to relax a bit!)

All two and three star hotels have en-suite facilities and at the majority of three-star hotels the bedrooms also have a private balcony, phone, TV and safety deposit box. Many of the hotels have beautiful swimming pools, some with waterfalls, poolside bars and kiddies' pools.

For a cheaper option you could try one of the town's "pensiones" which are Spanish-style hostals offering cheap and cheerful accommodation with more basic but adequate facilities.

Pension Feliu is a two-star hostal in Carretera de Francia and Pension Heidelberg, also with two stars, is on the N-11 national road.

Campsites provide one of the biggest sources of holiday accommodation in Santa Susanna. There are no less than four seafront sites in Avenida del Mar and beside the Passeig Maritim beachfront promenade.

Platja Daurada, Oasis, Bon Repos and El Pinar are all sites in Santa Susanna with sea views and a good range of facilities including swimming pools, bars, restaurants, laundry rooms and play areas.

There are plenty of self catering apartments and villas to rent in and around Santa Susanna - standards vary greatly according to how much you want to pay. The majority of self-catering villas have private pools and many apartments are part of "aparthotel" complexes which give you all the freedom of self-catering accommodation combined with the freedom of hotel facilities on your doorstep.

If you go self-catering, choose your company carefully and ask the following questions:

  • What deposit will you have to pay and will it be refunded on your day of departure?
  • Are water, gas and electricity included?
  • Does the agent offer a 24-hour maintenance service for emergencies?(such as a non-flushing toilet!)
  • What happens if you have to cancel?
  • Are items such as towels (including pool and beach towels) included?
