Oliva Car Hire - Getting around
Oliva Holiday Travel Guide & Vacations - Beaches - Oliva Apartment Accommodation & Hotel Lodgings - Oliva Tourist Attractions & Things to do - Oliva Nightlife & Restaurants
If you're a golf enthusiast or sun worshipper and your holiday accommodation is in or near the Oliva Nova complex you may decide car hire is unnecessary (especially if airport transfers are included in your holiday deal).
But with the freedom of a car you'll be able to explore the beautiful mountainous hinterland which lies behind Oliva. Discover tiny Spanish pueblos totally unspoilt by tourism where life seems hardly to have changed for hundreds of years.
For a day's shopping head 75 kilometres north to the beautiful city of Valencia or 100 kilometres south to Alicante which boasts a wonderful variety of beaches, shops, restaurants and leisure activities.
Benidorm, one of the liveliest resorts in the whole of the Mediterranean, is only 40 minutes drive south of Oliva. There are some great family days out to be had here including Spain's biggest theme park, Terra Mitica, the Aqualandia water park and the exotic bird and marine life centre at Mundomar.
In the mountains, about 45 minutes drive south west of Oliva, you'll find one of Spain's top tourist attractions - the extraordinary Moorish fortress of Guadalest, perched on its mountain pinnacle with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
If you're holidaying in high season make sure you book your rental car in advance to avoid disappointment. You'll be more comfortable with air conditioning if you're travelling in July or August.
These are some of the questions you should be asking yourself before choosing your car hire company:
- Does the company have a dedicated desk inside the airport where you can collect your keys and sort out the necessary paperwork and any problems? There's nothing worse than arriving in the middle of the night to find no car.and no-one to complain to!
- Does the company give a commitment on the quality of its cars - are they, for example, all under a certain age?
- Will you have to pay the local IVA tax (Spanish VAT) of 16% or is it included in the price?
- Does the company offer "no quibble" insurance to cover such things as collision damage and theft? Is unlimited third party insurance and basic personal accident damage for the driver and occupants included?
- Will you have to pay an "excess" charge in the event of an accident?
For just popping around Oliva and the local area you may decide to go for a motorbike or scooter. Many car hire firms provide these and there are also dedicated companies solely dealing in scooter hire. Push bikes are also available for hire in the town centre.
