La Manga's location makes it an ideal holiday spot for beach lovers and water sports enthusiasts. The club lies between the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean and the warm, shallow waters of the Mar Menor inlet, Europe's biggest salt water lagoon.
Mar Menor is an inland sea where the water temperature rises to that of a warm bath during the long hot summer months. This protected inlet is a natural water park for children and sports lovers alike. Its 170 square metres of shallow water provides safe bathing and an ideal training base for those mastering the art of various sports including sailing, windsurfing, water and jet ski-ing.
The sandy beaches of La Manga stretch for mile after mile - the beachside restaurants and bars bustle with life until late at night during the summer months but you'll always be able to find a quiet spot for some undisturbed sun soaking.
You can hire a boat to explore the Mar Menor and coastline. There are fun filled excursions with a captain doing all the work while you just sit back and enjoy the view, food and drink. Swim off one of the local islands while the crew prepare a barbecue for you on deck!
For the more adventurous there's a scuba diving club where PADI trained (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) English instructors cater for complete beginners as well as competent divers. The Mar Menor is a safe place to try your first dive and for qualified divers there are boat dives in the Cabo de Palos reserve, off the tip of the peninsula, where you'll be able to enjoy a huge variety of marine life.
The resort is awash with swimming pools which serve the "villages" of apartments and villas which cluster on the hillsides. Guests at the Olivos village enjoy some of the finest facilities with two outdoor pools and an indoor heated pool with spa bath.
The Los Molinos villas have access to a stunning pool with a waterfall, poolside bar and restaurant. A safe kiddies' pool is alongside.
All accommodation here has either a private or communal pool. At the tennis and leisure centre there's a large swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna.
If you want to venture further afield you'll find some wonderful beaches along the Costa Calida which stretches from the salt flats of San Pedro Pinatar, at the northern edge of the Mar Menor. Travel south along the coast and you'll find some delightful secluded coves, only accessible via steep cliff paths.
To the north there are the popular tourist beaches of Torrevieja, Guardamar and Alicante.
From Santa Pola, about 80 kilometres north along the coast from La Manga, you can take a boat trip to the tiny island of Tabarca, the only inhabited island in the Valencian community. Its village has been listed as a national monument of historic and artistic interest.
