Javea has never been a package holiday resort and there are only a few hotels so the vast majority of tourists stay in rented self-catering apartments and villas. The range of rental accommodation is huge - there's everything from small studio apartments on the beachfront to sumptuous mountain top villas with every possible luxury. An enormous industry has grown up around the demand for self-catering holiday homes so you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to finding the right holiday let.
The Javea Parador is situated in beautiful palm gardens at the northern end of the main Arenal Beach. It's a modern building with 65 rooms. The location is perfect for those who want easy access to the beach, bars, restaurants and Nightlife.
El Rodat is a four star hotel with adjoining apartments. It's set back from the beachfront (five minutes by car 15 or minutes on foot to the Arenal) so it's quiet whilst offering excellent on site facilities including a well equipped health and fitness centre.
Of the few hotels in Javea, without doubt the most luxurious (and expensive) is the Hotel Mediterranea. It's a beautiful Mediterranean mansion in a perfect location - set back from the seafront and perched on a hillside with sea and mountain views. Everything about it is exquisite; from the cobbled courtyard entrance to the beautifully tended gardens and interior décor. It boasts indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna and massage suite.
The Mediterranea only has 10 rooms - all doubles - and two lap of luxury suites. This is the kind of place you go to celebrate a very special occasion (or if money's no object!)
Opposite the Parador is the Hotel Villa Naranjos (Book Now) which represents excellent value for money and once again is within easy reach of all local facilities. It tends to cater more for the Spanish market than international tourists.
There's the Hotel Solymar in a great seafront location on the Montañar between the Arenal beach and the port. In the port itself is Hotel Miramar, right on the seafront overlooking the pebble beach and marina.
If you go self-catering, choose your company carefully and ask the following questions:
- What deposit will you have to pay and will it be refunded on your day of departure?
- Are water, gas and electricity included?
- Does the agent offer a 24-hour maintenance service for emergencies? (such as a non-flushing toilet!)
- What happens if you have to cancel?
- Are there restrictions on the size of your group?
- Are items such as towels (including pool and beach towels) included?
