The biggest proportion of Estartit's holiday accommodation is geared to the package holiday market and consists of one and two star hotels, self-catering apartments and campsites favoured by budget-conscious families with young children.
This is not the place to come for Hyatts and Hiltons but there's a good range of hotels with facilities to meet the needs of middle-market international tourists.
One of the best equipped hotels in town is the three-star Bell Aire in a central location in Carrer Esglesia, just two minutes walk from the beach and three minutes from the main shopping centre. Many of the bedrooms in this modern four-storey hotel have views of the Mediterranean and Medes Islands whilst others look out over the mountains. The rooms have en-suite bathrooms, telephones, balconies, heating and TV. The hotel's terrace restaurant offers international cuisine as well as Catalan dishes.
The three-star Panorama in Avenida de Gracia also rates as one of the resort's best hotels. The hotel is only 50 metres from the beach and has a good range of facilities including a big outdoor pool (surrounded by a children's play area), an attractive indoor heated pool and solarium. The Panorama also has a bowling alley, diving centre games room and a nightly programme of entertainment in high season. Buffet meals are served in the main dining-room and there's also a pizza restaurant.
There are numerous one and two star hotels in the resort with varying degrees of comfort according to how much you want to pay. Most provide in-house entertainment in the summer months and it's worth checking the exact details with your chosen tour operator. Past visitors give widely differing accounts of the standard and frequency of entertainment; if you're holidaying with young children you'll no doubt appreciate a well-organised kids' club with a variety of daytime and early evening activities.
Besides numerous international hotels there are also several Spanish-style pensions in and around Estartit. These are usually small, family-run establishments which provide cheap and cheerful accommodation but without the range of services and facilities found in the bigger hotels. Many have en-suite rooms and provide good quality home-cooked food.
Many package holiday groups are accommodated in self-catering apartment blocks, which again vary in terms of the standard of facilities and comfort. Some have a good range of communal facilities such as swimming pools, bars and restaurants. As with a hotel package holiday, it's important to check what kind of entertainment programme will be laid on during your stay.
Some visitors to apartment complexes here have been delighted by first class nightly entertainment provided by their tour reps. Others have complained that the entertainment has been either of poor quality or non-existent. Obviously you can't please all of the people all of the time.but it's best to know what to expect in advance.
Private villa accommodation is less common in Estartit than in many other Spanish resorts but it is available with prices ranging from as little as £100 per person per week to nearly £2,000. Most villas have either private or communal swimming pools.
There are several good campsites in and around the resort with excellent on-site facilities such as bars, restaurants, laundry rooms, car washes, supermarkets and swimming pools. Many also have self-catering bungalows and mobile homes to rent.
