Cambrils is not dominated by modern high-rise hotels like the neighbouring resort of Salou but you'll find a good choice of holiday accommodation here - from four-star hotels to small Spanish pensions, campsites and self-catering apartments.
The resort welcomes around one million holidaymakers every year and the vast majority stay in chalets and apartments which account for 60,000 of the 75,000 tourist beds available.
About 5,000 beds are provided by the resort's hotels which range from a handful of excellent quality four-star hotels through to more affordable "pensiones" and Spanish-style hostals.
One of the best equipped hotels is Cambrils Playa Hotel, in Avenida Diputacion midway between the resort and neighbouring Salou. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool with a bar and an attractive sun terrace with tropical vegetation. The beach is just 50 metres away - the fact that you have to cross a busy main road to get to it is a drawback is as is the proximity of the local railway which is a noise problem for those bedrooms which overlook it.
The hotel has a good range of sports and leisure facilities. Barbecues are held in the pool area during the summer months.
The four-star Heperia Centurion Hotel is on the same road - an ideal family hotel just five minutes from the Port Aventura theme park. The hotel is right on the beach and provides an excellent entertainment programme for children and adults alike. Facilities include an outdoor fun pool and poolside café-bar.
The Princess Hotel and Hotel Monica in Carrer Galceran Marquet are also in the four-star category. You'll find plenty of one, two and three star hotels as well as several hostals and "pensiones" where you can expect clean and comfortable accommodation at a very affordable price. The facilities won't be as extensive as those of the big modern hotels but you normally get an en-suite bathroom and very often an in-house restaurant serving good quality, home-cooked local dishes.
There are numerous apartment blocks where you can rent self-catering accommodation - from small studios to spacious three-bedroomed apartments. Many have good communal facilities such as swimming pools, landscaped gardens and children's play areas.
Or you could rent a private villa - most have their own swimming pools and if you're traveling in a large group this can sometimes work out cheaper than a hotel as you normally pay a set price per villa rather than paying per person.
Many of the hotels and apartment complexes organise day time and evening entertainment including kids' clubs to keep the youngsters amused. If you're holidaying with small children, it's worth checking this point with your tour operator as a well-organised kids' club can make all the difference if you're a harassed parent seeking some much-needed peace and quiet!
There are several campsites along this stretch of coastline, jointly capable of providing accommodation for around 10,000 visitors at any one time.
The best equipped is the first grade category Cambrils Park site on the coast road to Salou. This is a camping and bungalow park with good on-site facilities including a big tropical-style outdoor pool, tennis courts, supermarket, laundry, bar and restaurant.
There are three second grade and five third grade category sites on the coast either side of the town centre.
