Orlando's Cheap Hotels - Budget Traveler
Accommodation > Budget Hotels - More in this Category > Top Hotels > All Inclusive Resorts > Apartments > Vacation Rentals > VillasThe style, luxury and imagination of Orlando Florida hotels unfortunately also means that they've got a price tag to match. So if you're travelling on a budget it can make it difficult to find affordable hotels that have any character. A host of cheap and characterless motels line the main Orlando highways such as Highway 192 and International Drive but if you're looking for something a little more inspiring you need to do a little legwork.

One of the best options available for affordable Orlando Florida hotels is the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne, a group of four historic houses, each from a different era, that have been converted into a comfortable inn. You can choose from fine antiques, original hardwood floors, whirlpool baths and marble showers at the majestic Dr Philips house; the sweeping veranda, high ceilings and chandeliers of the intimate IW Phillips house; the quirky Art Deco features, decorative screen doors and Thai touches at the Wellborn; or the English Victorian grandeur of the Norment-Parry Inn. The atmospheric rooms cost between $90 and $120 dollars and will have you planning a return visit before you ever leave. For more information visit orlandohistoricinn.com.
If you're travelling with children the Magic Castle Inn and Suites is another good bet. As affordable hotels goes it wins for presentation and price. With a large children's playground, a pool and complimentary breakfast and park shuttle it's one of the best deals around. Rooms cost between $30 and $50 and sleep up to five people.
If cost is your main concern and you don't really care too much about character, there's a strip of superbudget hotels and motels in the Kissimmee/Hwy 192 area with simple, clean rooms going for $30 a night. The further west you go from I-4 the cheaper they get. Alternatively, all the big name hotel and motel chains have a presence along International Drive and have comfortable if standard rooms for between $50 and $100 and suites for a little extra. Most of these include a 'free' shuttle service to the nearest theme parks in the price of the room - in reality you pay $10 extra per room for this service.
Wherever you stay it's always worth trying some bargaining tactics - whether you're booking in advance or arriving on the day. When given a quote, always ask if there is anything cheaper or for the 'best rate' available, call the central reservations desk of larger chains and see if they can offer you a better deal. With so many hotels in the area, competition is fierce, particularly outside peak season.
