Las Vegas and beyond
Steve (one of our authors) visited Las Vegas a few months ago for a business conference and I am so jealous! The worst part is that he did nothing in Vegas except work and gamble a little.
I would love to have gone, but not just to see the lights of Vegas. I would take in as many shows as I could and then tootle off to see what else the desert has to offer.
To tour the Strip, I would try something different like chartering a Las Vegas Strip Trolley which is an inexpensive and fun way to get around town. It is most beneficial if you are traveling in a large group. The Trolley travels along both sides of the Strip, making stops at various hotels, theatres and malls.
To get away from the lights without travelling too far, The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, is a mere 12 miles west of the Strip and you could hire a Limousine to visit the Red Rock Rocks in style. It is apparently an amazing contrast to the neon fantasy land of Las Vegas. If you want to get a sense of the geography of the Las Vegas area, its best to get away from the lights once you have had your fill of gambling and shows.
If you don’t have much time in Las Vegas, then consider treating yourself to a variety of shows such as Comedy Shows, Magic Shows and even Trade Shows. The other great thing about Vegas is the music. I have always enjoyed Celine Deon and would not miss her show for the world. Oh and don’t miss out on the Dinner Shows. This is one of my favourite things to do. I recently went to a Dinner Show with drag queens running the show. The show took place in a little restaurant and the performers actually used the the main road as part of the show. They stopped the traffic during their performance. They performed in the street, on the side walk and in the restaurant. We could see it all from inside as the place had glass windows from top to bottom. It sounds weird, but it was really funny and worth while.
Tell us what else you want to see on the Las Vegas section?
