Fishing season is on the horizon. Why not check out Alaska. Alaska has an amazing three million lakes and three thousand rivers to fish in. The variety of fish you can catch should keep you from getting board and I should mention the quality of the fish is superb. Try this for variety: Salmon (king, silver, pink and chum salmon), Halibut (these slippery water babies can get up to 300 pounds in weight), Rockfish, Greenlings, Cod, Sablefish, Flounder, Sole, Grayling, Smelt, Trout (Lake, Rainbow and Cutthrout), Burbot, Red Snapper, Razor Clams, Herring and sport fish like Cutthroat and Dolly Varden. I am sure I have missed out a few. Anyone who has been to Alaska or knows of more varieties - speak up, I’m listening.
Because there are so many lakes and rivers as well as thirty four thousand miles of coastline, you will have both salt water and fresh water fishing at your fingertips. The vast area that you might want to explore, bearing in mind that different fish are more prevalent in different waters, Fly-in Fishing is the way to go. Not only will you get to the best fishing spots Alaska has to offer, but you get to see beautiful mountain ranges, forests and wildlife from the air, so don’t forget to take your camera! You can spend your time lazily fishing at one of the millions of Fishing Lodges Alaska has to offer or you can simply spend a few days at one lodge and then move on to another. The choice of lodges are as vast as the variety of fish you can catch.

If outdoor adventure holidays are your thing, then you should visit DENALI NATIONAL PARK in Alaska. You will have millions of acres (6 to be more precise) of wildlife reserve to explore. The amount of visitors who report sighting grizzlies, wolves, moose, Dall sheep, caribou and golden eagles is countless.
If you are going especially to see Mount McKinley then make your way to Camp Denali. Camp Denali is on a hillside in the heart of the park and is your best bet if you want to view Mount McKinley, which is so often covered in a blanket of cloud obstructing the view.
Camp Denali offers 17 log cabins and is staffed with well educated, knowledgeable employees who will take you on guided hikes. They will be able to quench your thirst for information with fascinating facts about the park and its natural wonders.
You can also go it alone by camping, but be aware that the park road is closed from October to late May due to snow. During the summer months the park road is only accessible by official bus.
The best time to visit the Park is during June for the summer solstice and particularly on June 21st where nearly 24 hours of sunlight can provide you with a fascinating view of what the wildlife get up to at night.
