No Glastonbury in 2006 - Try Ibiza

Well, I have searched and searched and have found no evidence that the organisers of the Glastonbury Festivals are going to arrange something in IBIZA for 2006. If anyone out there knows better, please let us know.

If you are going to IBIZA to party to the Balearic Beat, you may as well join the throngs of others flocking to Priviledge in Ibiza Town and enjoy one of the worlds largest and most famous night clubs. The night to visit (as I’m sure all you regulars know) is Monday night - Manumission.

I am one of those sad people who know nothing about the night clubs because I have a family (translating into - I’m too old know). There could actually be more of you out there who have never been or know nothing about the club scene in Ibiza because you are new to Europe. If that is the case, click here and our site can give you some handy information to aid your decision about visiting the club scene in general. There is a little more to Ibiza night life than the Privilege club. Try Pacha (open all year round), Amnesia (for some ‘clean’ fun) and Space (an all day club).

Tell us what you want to see on our site?

Visit the real Ibiza

I remember my first trip to the Balearic Islands. We stayed at your typical holiday resort but left the kids behind at the resort and travelled inland to try and gain some insight into how the real Spanish people lived. We found a great spot. It was Sunday and they had little hippie market on as well as a live band from America - no, not type you are thinking of. It was a real traditional ‘Red Indian’ group, in their traditional dress, playing funny looking but lovely sounding musical instruments that were mostly hand made. Anyway that wasn’t the experience I wanted to mention. Besides the fantastic church in the market square, we got to experience a real Spanish meal. It was not touristy at all but it did have a little menu in English which they gave us as soon as they heard us speak. In stead of ordering off this menu, we decided to sign language to the waitress that we did not want anything English. We saw an old Spanish man sitting at the next table, eating heaven knows what, and we signaled to her that we wanted what he had. She gave us a curious look but obliged. I still have no idea what we ate but it was delicious. It must have been some kind of seafood stew with bread to dip into it - anyway if you want to experience the real thing, go to Ibiza, to the North East to a place called Es Cana and experience Ibiza properly.

Other options of getting to Ibiza

Did you know Ibiza was called Ebusus by the Romans and yet the island was never made part of the Roman Empire? Just some useless information for you. During my recent search for cheap flights to Ibiza I discovered a new airline called Vueling Airlines. They only started the company in 2004 and are based in Barcelona. The reason I mention this airline is because it will be useful during peak holiday seasons when all others are booked up (our experience). They don’t do the UK yet but you can fly to Amsterdam first and then to Barcelona. They are a low cost airline so it might be worth it if you are planning a ‘Party Party Party’ trip cause Amsterdam could be your starting point and then Ibiza and back to Amsterdam again. OK so you have to have lots of time and energy to do that but I thought the info was worth mentioning especially since the cost is only about 160 Euros return. Do you have any comments for me?

Ibiza

I was talking to someone the other day (in Auckland) about Xmas parties and they happened to mention that they spent last Xmas in Ibiza. I find that fascinating that people as far away as Australia and New Zealand actually fly across the world just experience Ibiza! Now I stayed in the UK for a long time and never experienced it but that may have something to do with my age - no I’m not giving away my age… I suppose if I was younger, single and had the means, I would at least experience it. I must say though, because I had a conservative upbringing (Portuguese father) I still don’t think I would be able to handle what goes on in some of those night clubs. Someone tell me I’m not alone in my thoughts??

Not just for a party?

We all know that Ibiza is Europe’s party capital. I was surprised how much more the island offers. The journalist who wrote this section had an absolute love for the place. I think she visits Ibiza every year. Please add your comments and give us your feedback.
