So many visitors have been fascinated by this heritage that recently the Molokai Ranch has started to allow the public to experience the "real" outdoors by running excursions. Be sure to witness the paniolo's skills on display at the Paniolo Roundup! This vast area of land is also bordered by some of the finest of beaches filled with the whitest of sands. Kayaking and sailing is strongly encouraged, and the waters are tame enough for even the rawest of recruits.
Kaluakoi Golf Course
The western part of the island is not all picturesque desert landscape; it is also home to the 18 hole Kaluakoi Golf Course. This golf course is very close to the Sheraton Molokai Lodge, and due to its coastal position it has some of the most fantastic sea views, which provide the perfect backdrop to one of the most relaxing games you could ever have. Its "oceanfront" presence means that players will have to wrestle with the increased wind factors, as well as navigate the various bunkers and water hazards dotted around the course. As you approach Papohaku Beach, be sure to look out to sea if you want to catch a glimpse of the busy island of Oahu. The Lodge
Take a step back through time and relax in the serene surroundings of this paniolo-styled rustic resort. The Lodge at Molokai Ranch is part of the town of Maunaloa and comes with all the typical facilities you would expect of a luxury resort: spa, fitness centre, an outdoor infinity pool and top class dinning. The two storey fireplace is a favourite sight amongst guests and is found in the living where many guests choose to relax with a good book from the Lodge's library. All 22 of the rooms come with a wet bar, private verandah and very generous oversized luxurious bathrooms.
