We would suggest contacting one of the Molokai car rental companies if you are thinking of navigating this 38 mile long, 10 mile wide (at its widest) island. The main reason behind our recommendation is that the Hawaiian Island of Molokai has no public transport system currently in place. - No buses or trains!

Even the number and choice of car rental companies is fairly thin. What companies there are here will have a pick up point at the island's airport (MKK), which can be found just a few miles northwest of Molokai's major settlement, Kaunakakai.

If you cannot manage to book a vehicle through either Budget or Dollar, which can often be the case during peak season, there are two independent Molokai car rental companies who can be used instead.

Kaunakakai, HI 96748 .The second private Molokai car rental company is Molokai Rentals and Tours, which operates out of Kaunakakai. Whether it's a small compact or a big and busty 4x4 you will find it here. Many people also find that as well as renting a vehicle, they also find themselves going on one of the tours offered by the company. For those who prefer not to drive or have difficulty driving there is a taxi / tour service - Molokai Off-Road Tours and Taxi (808-553-3369).
