It's an all-inclusive resort located on a large white beach. There are two swimming pools, a floodlit tennis court and several restaurants, including a good Italian one.
Accommodation is in what the brochure describes as "Caribbean-style bungalows". In practice, this means small modern buildings with tropical-looking thatched roofs. Inside, the décor is inspired by Mexican tradition, with terracotta tile floors, bright bedspreads and marble touches. Standard rooms all have one king-size or two double beds. They also have a balcony or a terrace; it's worth paying the extra $25 or so for an ocean-view room. They also have a bathroom with a bathtub, air-conditioning and satellite television. A standard room will cost between $140 and $210 per person per night. Prices vary depending on the season. For an extra $40 or so, you can upgrade to a studio room. Studios have a living area, kitchen appliances, mini refrigerator and dining table. For about $50, you can upgrade to a junior suite, which has all the features of a studio as well as having larger balconies with a Jacuzzi.
Prices include accommodation, food, unlimited drinks and many activities, including non-motorized water sports. You pay extra for use of the beauty parlour and spa services. The hotel also offers diving packages.
Provision for children over five is fairly good; the kids' club, from 9am to 5pm daily, offers a variety of activities to keep them busy. However, there is less provision for younger children and babies. The swim-up bar pool is adults-only, so forget about taking the kids for a lemonade there. (The pool bar at the other pool is only for VIP members.) However, the whole family will enjoy the themed parties, which happen daily and include such themes as Mexican Fiesta and International Night.
