However, it's not one of the many all-inclusive resorts on Puerto Vallarta's coast. If you're familiar with the Holiday Inn brand, you will already know that these hotels are aimed more at business travelers than at tourists looking for themed dinners and windsurfing lessons.
However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider the Holiday Inn Puerto Vallarta for your holiday. The chain is sometimes criticised for being bland and business-oriented, but there are many advantages to staying there as a tourist, not least the excellent location. If you're familiar with the chain, you know what to expect, which can be a great advantage when you're visiting somewhere for the first time. It's also a good budget option. Prices vary depending on the season and the kind of room you want. You are charged for the room, rather than according to the number of people staying in it, so you will save money if you are traveling with a partner or friend. A standard room usually costs between $80 and $90 per night. If you book a few months in advance, supersaver deals are available. These allow you to book a king-sized bed or a room with a double bed for the standard price of a single room. All rooms have an ocean view and a private balcony, as well as air conditioning, a telephone, satellite TV, a hair-dryer and a coffee-maker.
You can also get all-inclusive deals (at around $180 per person per night). The food is very good: a buffet with a lot of variety, including plenty of Mexican food. You also get to try some great cocktails and traditional Mexican coffee.
The Holiday Inn Puerto Vallarta also has an outdoor pool, an onsite fitness centre, a sauna and a whirlpool. Many tourists are put off by the chain's business image, but think about the great food, good value and on-the-beach location. It's definitely worth considering for your holiday.
