Just because you are on a tropical island it doesn't mean life is all floral lei's and luaus. Maui's shopping is no Rodeo Drive, but it has a few impressive shopping centers that are guaranteed to stop those credit cards from getting cold. So where can the shopaholics among Maui's visitors go you may ask?

The "Queen Kaahumanu Center" is probably the grandest shopping centre that Maui has to offer. It is located in Kahului and is the only place you will find branches of the ever popular Sears and Macy's department stores. There are over a hundred other well known shops and boutiques housed in the center, including Gap and Sharper Image. The center also has a number of cinemas and its own food court that is guaranteed to tickle your taste buds. If this all was not enough, this Maui shopping center also has a stage where passers by can take in some Hawaiian music. Opening times are Monday to Friday 9.30am - 9 pm, Saturdays the doors close at 7pm and then and Sundays you can only access the center from 10am - 5pm.
Near Kaanapali and what to do a spot of retail therapy? Then we suggest going down to the " Whalers Village." It is elegantly sited right next to the ocean and was built largely to satisfy the needs of the many resorts located in this area of the island. In total it has over 60 shops and amongst these are names such as Chanel and Waldenbooks. If you fancy a bite to eat then we advise you to stick your head into the "Rusty Harpoon" or the "Hula Grill." This little gem is open everyday from 9.30am till 0pm,
Moving on we find the Lahaina Cannery Mall. This centre is completely enclosed and was, as its name suggests, once an actual cannery. A little smaller than the other two already mentioned this one only has about 50 shops. The mall also gives its shoppers access to live entertainment every week. Look out for "Compadres Mexican Bar and Grill" and why not rest you legs at "Sir Wilfred's Coffee."
The resorts at Wailea also have a few shops but these are largely over priced and are aimed to target the classy and the rich. Opening times are from 9.30am till 9pm.
Last on our list of hot spots is the Maui Mall. Allow us to introduce you to the overshadowed neighbor of the impressive Queen Kaahumanu Center. This little beauty has recently been revamped and it is becoming a favorite place for cruise ship guests. Opening times: Monday to Thursday 10am - 7pm, open till 9pm on Fridays and only till 4pm on a Sunday.
