Maui Rental Car prices can be cheaper than other states in the country, and this is partly due to the fact that there is quite a lot of competition on the island. Most visitors end up picking up a rental as most of the island sites can be reached far more easily and quickly by using independent transport.
Stepping into Kahului Airport, if you take a wander over to the right of the baggage claim you will eventually come face to face with a car rental stand. We do recommend however that these are booked in advance, especially during peak season as companies have been known to run out of vehicles across the lines. In the event of this, the airport is also serviced by a shuttle that runs between it and Kaanapali. Please be aware that each rental car company is likely to have different policies and limitations in place. For example some allow cash payments, others only allow the use of debit cards and some even have higher rates in place for drivers under 25. Make sure you are aware of the factors governing your policy.
