Maui's Airports - Hana, Kahului and Kapalua
Kahului is the main Maui Airport is located on the northern part of the land that bridges the two parts of the island only three miles from the Kahului settlement. This airport is just over 1,390 acres and can accommodate domestic cross- Pacific flights as well as local inter-island commercial services. Kahului is serviced by shuttles, rental agencies, helicopter services and scenic tour operators. Complete with full facilities this is a simple but quaint little airport. Stepping out of the Kahului airport you will find a car-rental area on the right. A cheap alternative to a rental is to use Speed-iShuttle which travels to all the main resorts - be sure to prearrange a pick up on 800-977-2605.
The second airport on Maui, Kapalua, is located in the western most part of the island and only accommodates commercial propeller air carriers and air buses. With only one runway this inter- island Maui airport has no cargo facilities and only functions during the daytime. Landing at Kapalua is extremely convenient if one is staying in or around the many Kaanapali resorts. Flights are available from Honolulu on the island of Oahu on Island Air.
The third and last Maui airport is Hana Airport which is only just less than 120 acres in size located on the eastern part of the island. This airport only accommodates commuter, unscheduled air taxis and other low key aviation activities. As air traffic increases further development will be planned.
