Property in Majorca - Mallorca Hotspots Spain
Looking for Property: Property in Majorca > Property for Sale in Majorca > Majorca Estate Agents > Property Hotspots > Propery for Sale Mallorca > Majorca Holiday Villas > Mallorca Holiday Villas > Mallorca Property Investments > Holiday Villas in MajorcaThere can be no debate that the last few years have seen Majorca property prices increase dramatically, and the ever-climbing number of Western Europeans émigrés can only add fuel to the speculation that costs will continue to rise.
While, inland, you may find that prices are lower, it's for good reason: more visitors love Majorca for its beaches than its mainland. The southwest of the island is the most popular place to invest, although by no means the cheapest option. A few decades ago discerning shoppers shunned this area for its package trade and mass tourism, however, as prices went up visitors rediscovered its wonderful mix of year-round sunshine, historic buildings and modern amenities.
Another great attraction of the southwest is its facilities. The hospitals are state of the art, international schools are plentiful and the attractions of the capital Palma, with its wonderful blend of narrow, cobbled, winding streets, hundreds of boutiques and great underground parking facilities, is never far away. The cost of living is relatively low and the standards high.
If you're looking for a bargain, head for the north and west of the island, where Majorca property prices are much lower. However, it's for good reason: these parts of the island tend to operate on a six-month year as, during winter, temperatures are much colder than those that its south-western counterparts enjoy.
You can also find less expensive property prices inland; should you be willing to restore a house in a mainland village you might even find something for as little as 140,000 euros.
A place in the sun: South West hotspots
The area spanning from the west of Palma to the port of Andratx is considered a popular place to buy. Here is a guide to some great Majorca property hotspots:
Benidat is one of the more exclusive areas of the island and holds a huge variety of golf courses - even the King and Queen of Spain play here.
Puerto Portals, with one of the most prestigious yachting marinas in Europe, is often dubbed as a mini St Tropez, with its chic bars and restaurants and see-and-be-seen culture.
The village of Camp de Mar is also a perfect place to reside. Idyllically situated by the sea, it is both peaceful and restful and equipped with great hotels, restaurants and amenities.
