Las Vegas Shows - More in this category > Las Vegas Show Schedule > Las Vegas Show Guide > Popular Venues > Shows in Las Vegas > Recommended Shows in VegasEvery show in Las Vegas has that extra ‘va va voom’, from costumes and lighting, to sheer extravagances. However, there are those that push the boat out that little further to give an extra wow factor.
The MGM Grand is like a city in itself, with over five thousand rooms and dozens of food establishments. It could not live up to its namesake if it did not also have an out of this world entertainment package and that it does, incorporating the sixteen thousand seat Grand Garden Arena, the Entertainment Dome and the smaller but no less spectacular six hundred and fifty seat Hollywood Theatre.
Opened by Barbara Streisand in 1993 with her first concert in twenty years, the Grand Garden has hosted great boxing matches, top concerts including the Rolling Stones, Backstreet Boys and Sting and other major sporting events. It is home to the Billboard Music Awards, and up and coming acts include Sarah Brightman and Bette Midler.
Currently showing Ka, by the Cirque du Soleil team, exploring the nature of duality as we follow twins through an epic journey. Using martial arts, pyrotechnics, spirituality, acrobatic and performance art on a mechanical stage, which moves and tilts with the performance along with an enormous video screen and special lighting effects. The hotel also houses the amazing and infamous Studio 54 Nightclub, as well as six and a half acres of pools and over one hundred and seventy thousand square feet of casino.
Made famous in 1967 by Evel Knievel's failed attempt to jump Caesars fountain, Caesars Palace makes the top of the list when it comes to extravagance. In 2003 they opened the Colosseum, a new four thousand-seat arena, purpose built for Celine Dion’s A New Day show and reportedly costing more than ninety million dollars to build. This incredibly successful and sold out show has wowed audience with its extravagance. As a multi-sensory experience it combines music, movement, enormous LCD displays and transports the audience through different cities and towns. It is located in a venue where no seat is further than one hundred and twenty feet from the stage and has some of the best acoustics in the world.
When talking about extravagance we have to mention O, another success story from Cirque du Soleil, showing at The Bellagio, which opened in 1998. It has over eighty artists in, around, or suspended over, a one and a half million-gallon pool of water. The hotel also offers a spectacular fountain show set to music. As one of the few five star rated resorts on the strip, you will be hard pushed to find such luxury on such a scale anywhere else.
