What can I expect from a Las Vegas Trade Show?

Las Vegas has become one of the foremost locations for trade shows over the last twenty years. Many industries understand the importance of showcasing their talent, and trade shows can provide business opportunities, as well as demonstrating the latest technology or theories to a wider audience. However, trade shows have become far bigger events than just a simple exhibition. Many of them hire huge venues and advertise worldwide. Respected companies often pay to send delegates, both to man stalls or conduct presentations, as well as to soak up the information on offer or forge new business contacts.

There are a number of big Las Vegas trade shows that come to mind first. Comdex is renowned for its scale and quality over the last twenty-five years. This is the annual event for the Information Technology industry, and is attended by global buyers and sellers who wish to learn how to use technology to remain competitive. Although the event in Las Vegas was cancelled in 2004, there is overwhelming support for it to re-emerge in 2005 with the usual five-day event.

Twice a year, the fashion industry descends on Vegas for the MAGIC Marketplace, one of the most influential events in fashion. This focuses on the business of fashion, and a four-day event includes women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories. Buyers from international chains to single boutiques attend to select their new stock, and with nearly two thousand exhibitors, this is an enormous trade show, even by Vegas standards. The location is the massive Convention Centre, with over a 100,000 attendees!

Another infamous trade show in Vegas is the GAMA Trade Show, the highlight of the hobby games industry. Exhibitors include publishers and distributors, keen to announce major releases and show off their product lines. This show takes place in March at the Riviera Hotel, and aims to better previous years. Free seminars are planned, as well as distribution of handouts for delegates to take away with them.

There are literally hundreds of Trade Shows that take place in Vegas, large and small, and are too numerous to mention in this article. They range from environmentalists to mobile phone companies! Search the web to find if your industry meets in Las Vegas, and consider combining a trade show with some of the other offerings of this amazing city.

Many trade show hosts understand that their delegates are hoping to enjoy some leisure time, and supply entertainment in the evenings, such as comedians or magic shows. There may also be some spare time built in, to allow visitors to enjoy extra activities such as golf, concerts, casino evenings, trips to the Grand Canyon, and the odd visit to an adult entertainment show!
