Show Girl history in Las Vegas

Of course, one of the most famous Las Vegas attractions is the Las Vegas show girl. There once was a film about Show girls, with the likes of Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon but to be honest that film was more about titillation than really about what you should expect from a show.

Ultimately, the showgirls are about the costumes and the razzmatazz of the entertainment capital of the world. Yes, sometimes there aren’t too many costumes to see, but we can’t hold that against them now can we? But it’s not just about flesh, there’s also dancing, music, comedy and magic, with the emphasis on the quality of the show. Here is a guide to some of the showgirl shows that you can see in Las Vegas.

“Crazy Girls” is on show at the Riviera. It was created by Norbert Aleman and is a combination of entertaining yet sensuous vignettes that are performed by seven showgirls who can be best described as really quite beautiful. Every night, a comedian will introduce the show and tie the different pieces together.

The longest running Las Vegas Showgirls show ever is at the Tropicana, and is the “Folies Bergere”. The choreography is by Jerry Jackson and has won many awards in its time. There are dazzling costumes and scenery as the girls perform the award winning numbers from Folies shows of the past as well as some spectacular new adult sequences.

Then there is Donn Arden’s lavish production of “Jubilee”, which features tune-crooning on million dollar sets and a large amount of glitter on the showgirls’ costumes. They have produced some amazing sequences, including the destruction of Samson’s Temple and the Sinking of the Titanic. A cast of 100 singers, dancers and speciality acts appear on a very unique stage.

“La Femme” was transported over from Paris, where you can find the original Crazy Horse, which has been going since 1951. It uses a combination of film, light effects, projections and film in order to create some humorous, subtle and sensual dramatic effects. The dancers are members of the original dance troupe at Crazy Horse. The dress code is strictly enforced, you have to wear business attire.

If you want to see a straight Topless Revue then “Midnight Fantasy” is available at the Luxor. At the Rio there is “Show Girls” which is a glimpse into the exciting and exotic life of Showgirls. There are 12 dancers and Sunny, the international recording artists makes a tribute to the female icons of the last century.

The “Showgirls of Magic” is at the San Remo, and combines mystifying illusions, hilarious comedy and beautiful women.
