The Hotel Lanai

The Hotel Lanai was built in the early 1920's by James Dole for the purpose of originally being a place for Hawaiian plantation executives to stay. The building is now a historical landmark and today is a beautiful hotel comfortably nestled amongst majestic Norfolk pines just off Dole Park in the uplands of Lanai close to the shopping and dinning facilities of the city. The hotel has a total of 11 rooms (10 actual rooms and 1 bedroom cottage) which can be found in one of either two wings of the main building, these wings are connected by a magnificent glass verandah. The cottage used to be the old caretakers lodgings and is now fully refurbished staying in line with the rest of the décor. The rooms of the Hotel Lanai come in a number of sizes, accommodating twin, double, queen a and king sized beds (some of which are four poster.) The hardwood floors, ceiling fans, country quilts, and original 1920's artwork all work to give the rooms a feel reminiscent of the plantation days adding to the buildings charm. Rooms also come with private bath and shower rooms, ironing facilities and appliances a small fridge and a complimentary continental breakfast. Some of the rooms even have porches that open out onto relaxing views of the city and the Hawaiian landscape.

The place is also home to Henry's Clay Rotisserie which serves food that's in a superior class of its own and is run by the hotel's owner and Chef Henry Clay Richardson. The Hotel Lanai also operates a shuttle that operates between itself, the Manele Bay Hotel, The Lodge at Koele, the airport and the harbor where the ferry that sails to Maui leaves For information on rental cars, please click here.
