The Challenge Golf Course at the Manele Bay Hotel
Built by Jack Nicklaus this superb course with immaculate fairways received the title of " America's Best Resorts: Gold & Silver Medal Awards" from Golf Magazine. Three of the holes reside on the magnificent cliffs above Hulopoe Beach, with the signature twelfth hole requiring players to hurtle the ball 200 yards from one cliff to another with nothing but the Pacific Ocean separating them - defiantly a water hazard if there ever was one! To challenge even the top Hawaiian golfers (including the course's local pro -Doug Stephenson) a five-tee concept was incorporated into the design so the pros can face nearly insurmountable chasms, while the average golfer can continue on an easier path. The Experience Golf Course at The Lodge at Koele
This is a new Lanai golf course that was developed by Ted Robinson and has received one award after another since its opening. Extending over 160 acres of Hawaiian forest surrounded landscapes this course has still managed to hold the natural botanical beauty of the island. The front nine holes extend through the old plantation fields which are riddled with ravines. Moving onto the back nine players encounter with captivating views of sister islands Maui and Molokai between the majestic eucalyptus trees. Holes 17 is the one that sticks out in everyone's mind as it is completely encompassed by water. Lodge at Koele.
Fees and Dress Code
Both of these courses demand that players wear collared shirts, slacks (jeans and denim are not appropriate), golf shorts (not more than 1 inch above the players knee) and only plastic spiked golf shoes.
Bookings have to be communicated directly to both courses no less than 90 days before the desired tee times. It is often the case that availability is a problem so be sure to get your reservations in promptly. Mail requests are not accepted only fax and telephone booking will be acknowledged. Cancellations have to be in 72 hours before play date and time - a fee will be imposed in the event this is not done.

Rates vary between guests and non-guests, and it is possible to rent clubs and shoes.
Cavendish Golf Course
This course is located on Keomoku Road and is a viable alternative if you find the fees, booking requirements, and queues of the pro courses a bit too extreme. Only nine holes this course is open from dawn till dusk.
