• Mount Kilimanjaro is both the tallest mountain on the African continent and the highest free standing mountain in the world.
• Steam and Sulphur are still emitted to this day from Kilimanjaro's youngest cone, Kibo.

• One of the Tanzanian guides who assisted the first person to officially summit Kilimanjaro, Hans Meyer, still alive today at the ripe old age of 118 years.
• 90% of individuals attempting to summit Kilimanjaro do so via the Marangu Trail. Out of these, approximately 10% manage to reach Uhuru Peak, whilst a one third succeed in making it to Gillman's Point, 600 feet below the true peak of Kili.
• On Uhuru Peak there is a wooden box containing a book in which almost every individual to reach the summit has recorded their impressions of the world from the highest point on the African continent.
