The Princeville Hotel Kauai - Review

The richly-furnished Princeville Hotel Kauai has an air of casual opulence and extensive, plush facilities. It is located on the stunning north shore which is the most beautiful and the most inaccessible part of the island. The north coast would suit those looking for a more remote holiday location - a chance to get away from it all and experience exotic wildlife and stunning scenery.

Kauai's northern region is more prone to rain, but enjoys lush scenery as a result. The Hotel has access to the Prince golf course, a 26-hole course which is supposed to be the best on the island and there is a beach at the foot of the hotel which offers good surfing but not for beginners and great snorkeling when the weather is calm.

The Princeville Hotel Kauai is magnificently furnished with marble and chandeliers and is the ultimate in luxury. It is popular for weddings and honeymooners and it is easy to see why. The hotel has fantastic views over Hanalei Bay and a backdrop of mountains for one of the most impressive vistas to be seen anywhere. The palatial rooms are decorated with marble throughout, original artwork, bathrooms with huge tubs, bedside control panels, dimmer switches and the pièce de résistance - the 'magic' bathroom window which goes opaque for privacy when required due to the liquid-crystal panes. Some of the rooms have an ocean view, while some have a view of the mountains behind. Most rooms do not have lanais (a balcony or patio area) but have enormous windows to allow you to enjoy the view to the full.

The hotel has a great program for kids and plenty of activities for people of all ages to enjoy. In addition to two outstanding golf courses, there is horse-riding, tennis on one of the 25 tennis courts, a cinema, an excellent spa and health club, hiking, kayaking on the river or on the ocean, helicopter tours over the peak, fishing and looking out for whales. If you get bored of nature there is a shopping center and the picturesque town of Hanalei to explore. Hanalei has managed to escape the development that the other major centers on the island have undergone and is the perfect place to while away a few hours or so. Hanalei Bay, with its two-mile long beach, is calm enough in the summer for swimming and water activities.

The Princeville offers packages so it worth asking about these. They also have wedding planners and people to assist with planning conferences, meetings, parties or other occasions. The grand ball room is the ideal venue for dinners, receptions, dances or conferences. The hotel also does a luau for its guests.
