Kauai Marriott Resort - Review
The Kauai Marriott Resort is located in the Lihue area on the southeast coast. Lihue is the island's capital and the island's main airport which means that it is the first place on the island that most tourists see. This makes it very convenient and suitable for those who want to settle into their lodgings quickly, and not have to travel several miles from the airport.
Being only a mile away, visitors should expect to hear the odd plane fly over during the day but be rest assured that they stop once the sunsets.
This is a popular resort for couples planning a wedding and has extensive facilities for kids. The Marriott Resort used to be a flamboyant, over-the-top resort until it was damaged by hurricanes. It has since been redone by slightly more grounded owners; and although the newly worked buildings can still look a little imposing, they definitely fit more in with the natural Hawaiian Island settings. This top-of-the-range resort is luxurious but at the same time very pricey and normally attracts the "well-heeled" part of today's society as well as many uninhibited newly weds who flock here to spend their honeymoon.
The guest rooms have been recently refurbished and are very comfortable providing all mod cons such as a dataport, fridge, coffee maker, TV with VCR and so on. They have wonderful views of Kalapaki Beach which offers a good, safe environment for swimming and other water sports with some protection from the open ocean. Conditions are usually suitable for windsurfing, boogie boarding and other activities and equipment can be rented from the resort. The water is usually calm and therefore it is good place to start if you have never seen a windsurfing board or jet ski before.
The resort overlooks a fabulous stretch of beach where shallow waters and numerous sandbars have formed a series of lagoons. Visitors are often surprised to find a zoo nestled amongst these lagoons. The Marriott, not only has a zoo, but it also is home to the largest swimming pool on the island. That along with its impressive, almost fairytale surroundings, and the extensive program for kids makes this a great, although expensive, resort for a family vacation.
The Kauai Marriott Resort offers its guests extensive amenities and services. There is a free airport shuttle service, and valet parking is available for a fee. There are two bars and four restaurants to choose from - try the popular Duke's Canoe Club for Hawaiian music, great food at an affordable price and cheap drinks at happy hour. The energetic can enjoy eight tennis courts, a championship golf course, fitness centre, and game room. Staff can assist you with car rental. Shopping, massage, a beauty salon and a laundry service are also available. For those traveling with children, there is a program of activities for the kids and a babysitting service, leaving Mum and Dad free to relax in the sunshine.
