The Hyatt Regency Kauai is one of the top luxury hotels on the island and is considered a world-class resort. This resort covers 50 acres of land overlooking Shipwreck Beach in the Poipu area on Kauai's sun-drenched south coast.
The complex is built in the style of 1920s Hawaii, thus giving it the elegant air of the typical old style plantations that calmly used to overlook the ocean. The Hyatt also carries a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that perfectly matches its fabulous décor and old style theme.
The rooms are large and tastefully decorated with marble bathrooms and ocean views. For the health conscious there is the Anara Spa and a fitness centre with a large choice of classes and four tennis courts. The Anara Spa is considered the best spa on Kauai and offers a range of services including massage and body wraps. The surroundings make the experience even more enjoyable with lava rock showers, pools and beautifully laid out gardens. Keen golfers will be interested in the Poipu golf course which is next door to the Hyatt and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.
If you have a family and are wondering how you would find time to enjoy the Hyatt's amazing facilities, then check out ' Camp Hyatt ', the program especially for children. This is available for kids from three up to twelve years old and provides extensive activities for children to keep them occupied while their parents have some time to relax. Babysitting and Camp Hyatt activities are also available in the evenings.
One of the features that really sets the Hyatt Regency Kauai apart from the rest is the myriad of pools, lagoons, waterfalls and other water features that make up its grounds. This is a kids' paradise with slides, secret lagoons and small caves - one of the pools is even fitted with volleyball net. The gardens are well laid out and looked after, and they provide a fantastic backdrop for all the pools and waterfalls and the man made islands they hold. The islands themselves are also landscaped and there is a hot tub on one of them. Hammocks are hung throughout the grounds. This is definitely one of the most luxurious and extravagant resort on the island and the only downside is that it is priced to match.
The Hyatt's extensive amenities include bike rentals, watersports equipment hire, organized activities, car rental assistance and a shopping arcade. The rooms contain a dataport, fridge, minibar and TV with VCR. Food lovers should try Dondero's, a stunning Italian restaurant. There are five more restaurants to choose from and six bars, one of which has live music. The Shipwreck Beach unfortunately is not always that great for swimming due to high surf. The Hyatt also has covered chairs on the beach available for their guests' use.
