Darjeeling Flights - Cheap Flight Guide to Darjeeling India

There are numerous ways one can reach Darjeeling however there is no airport in this town. If you plan to fly, the closest airport is at Bagdogra, a good 90km away. However flights from major centres such as Delhi and Kolkata often have direct flights to Bagdogra and from here one can either get a taxi or head to the neighbouring Siliguri for alternative transport. The trip to Siliguri can be made in a rickshaw (a two wheeled cart) or an auto-rickshaw (a three wheeled vehicle).

If coming from the neighbouring Nepal then you can take a flight from Kathmandu straight to Bhadrapur. From here you can taxi to Kakarivitta (at the border) and then on to Siliguri then Darjeeling. Note that foreigners are only permitted to pass the border at Kakarbhitta/Panitanki and not at Pasupati as it is a restricted zone.

If you are planning to fly to Bagdogra then flights can be sought from the internet, travel agencies and airline carriers. The best place to start is online as you are likely to get the best deals. A site like Yatra.com is a great starting point as they usually have great airfare deals from the UK to the major Indian cities. There are several flight comparison sites that will find the cheapest flights out of most airlines which will give you a good idea of the airlines offering the best value.

If money isn’t an issue and you are willing to pay extra for comfort, then most airlines offer a business or first class section. It is a very different experience than travelling “zoo class”. First seating, extensive entertainment and meal options, priority baggage collection and executive airport areas are just the beginning but be prepared to pay the price tag that comes with such luxury.
