Space Ibiza - Spanish Holiday Islands Mediterranean
Night Life in Ibiza - More in this category > Ibiza Bars > Ibiza Clubs > Amnesia in Ibiza > Manumission Ibiza > Pacha in Ibiza > Privilege Ibiza > Space Ibiza > Ibiza Music > Restaurants in IbizaSpace is Ibiza's premier day club, opening at dawn to cater for the afterparty crowd spilling out of the major clubs as they close. Located in the very popular Platja d'en Bossa (Playa d'en Bossa) area just south of Ibiza Town (Eivissa), Space is on its way to becoming Ibiza's most famous club, and not because it's commercial or vast like some of the other big venues, but simply because it's totally different and totally mad.
With a capacity of 3000 - average by Ibiza standards - Space is roomy enough to retain a relatively carefree atmosphere. That said, it tends to be only the most dedicated clubbers who make it to Space in the first place, having already danced the night away at Privilege, Pacha or Amnesia. With just enough time for a croissant and a coffee (or beer) between closing time at the big clubs and opening time at Space, those out for an entirely hedonistic holiday will feel right at home.
Life began for Space in 1988, when it was renovated by a new Spanish owner, and began on its path to clubbing notoriety in the early 1990s. Nowadays there are few trendier places to be seen than Space, even if it is right next to the airport. This is hardly surprising, since the south-east corner of Ibiza is home to many of the island's most celebrity-filled bars and clubs, including El Divino, in Ibiza Town, and Sa Trinxa, on Salines beach.
Space's fantastic open-air terrace is the club's best-known feature, but is only half of the story. Inside there is another, louder, darker area, its atmosphere the ideal antidote to the euphoric mood outside. International DJs of the highest calibre play Space before packed crowds and under wide blue skies. Due to noise pollution laws, the terrace closes at midnight on days when Space stays open late, but the spacious interior is large enough for the hardcore crowd still up for it at that time.
Ibiza may well be a Catholic island, but attending the Sunday service has never really meant the same thing since Space opened its doors for twenty-two consecutive hours for the notorious Sunday party, which begins at 8am and carries on until 6am on Monday morning. The ticket allows one exit and re-entry during the course of the day-long party, so a morning dance can be followed by a calm beach session at Playa d'en Bossa, which should give you a second wind in time for a night of dancing beneath the stars on the Space terrace.
