Playa d'en Bossa Ibiza (Platja d'en Bossa)

Playa d'en Bossa - Platja d'en Bossa in Catalan - is just a few kilometres south of Ibiza Town (Eivissa) and is definitely one of the hippest places to stay on the island these days. Not only does it have a beach that stretches over three beautifully sandy kilometres - Ibiza's longest beach - but it is also home to some of the island's best party venues.

Playa d'en Bossa is beginning to emerge as one of Ibiza's party capitals; it certainly beats Santa Eularia, Ibiza's third largest town, in terms of partying facilities and proximity to great beaches, and is arguably more classy than San Antonio, the island's second largest town. That leaves only Ibiza Town, which is just up the road from Playa d'en Bossa, and is home to numerous shops, Dalt Vila (Ibiza Old Town), and some of the best clubs, among them Pacha and El Divino.

Playa d'en Bossa's best-known venue is Space, which would be more accurately described as a 'dayclub' than a nightclub, since it opens at 8am and rocks on until late. With an enviable open-air terrace on site and some of the world's most famous DJs on its payroll, Space is fast turning into the most impressive of Ibiza's many clubs. Since the all-day ticket offered by Space allows for one exit and re-entry, there are few better places to spend the afternoon than Bora-Bora, the beachside bar-club on the beach at Playa d'en Bossa. Bora-Bora is now big enough on the Ibiza party scene to be able to draw in some of the best DJs, not to mention clubbers in their thousands.

Playa d'en Bossa may well be Ibiza's longest beach, but some of the island's other excellent beaches are very close by indeed. Salines, by far the most trendy, is just a little way to the south, and also boasts a very long strip of white sand - not to mention beach bars like Sa Trinxa and Jockey Club that pull in the celebrity holidaymakers. Figueretes is just a short drive to the north of Playa d'en Bossa and also boasts a popular, sandy beach, although it is somewhat more chaotic and family-oriented than Salines.

Playa d'en Bossa has plenty of hotels of varying quality, and is an excellent place to stay. Its proximity to Ibiza Town is nothing but a bonus, since the island's capital is ideal for both clubbing and non-clubbing visitors. Furthermore, Playa d'en Bossa is only a short commute from the airport, has excellent watersports facilities, and is not yet classed as one of Ibiza's large, Brit-filled tourist centres.
