Famiy Vacations to Hawaii - Best Resorts

Past experience has shown that the majority of Hawaii family vacations seem to run more smoothly when you have everything at your doorstep. So our advice to you is to look into possibly spending your time away at one of the many "all-inclusive resorts" that are scattered all over the Hawaiian Isles.

See - MQSEARCH for the latest advertised family vacations.

Superbly designed freshwater pools, tennis courts, private beach access, activity desks, kids programs and the freedom to use the resort as a base from which to explore the rest of your surroundings; all make for a stress free family Hawaii package vacation.

Below is a list of the resorts which have been highlighted in the past for their dedication to providing families from all over the world with the perfect island experience.

Book The Lodge

Molokai is not like the other islands, in that there are fewer resorts to choose from - that makes our job a lot easier. If you are going to spend your Hawaii family vacation on Molokai then we have to recommend the Molokai Ranch & Lodge (808-552-2741). This "ranch-style" resort is set on a staggering 54000 acres - more than enough space for the little ones to run around. What makes the experience more exciting are the canvas "tent-a-lows" of the Beach Village which are situated right on the beach. This is camping with all the added luxuries of a queen sized bed and fully functional bathroom! Being on a working ranch the kids can go on supervised nature hikes and see real live Hawaiian cowboys! The children's club "Ed-venture" also runs arts and craft programs. Not to leave out mum and dad, the whole family can do a spot of horseback riding or try their hand at kayaking - far from any cheap thrills!. Since the island is not as commercialized as the rest, guests can expect prices to be a lot more affordable.

Book The Grand Wailea

When it comes to family vacation fun on Hawaii's Island of Maui, none does it quite as well as the Grand Wailea Resort and Spa (808-875-1234). Watch the kids eyes widen as they set their sights on the Canyon Activity Pool, which is made up a staggering 9 other pools and has slides, lazy rivers (which can be become quite "full of energy" at some points), and a number of rope swings. While the bigger kids and dad are playing Tarzan, mum and the toddlers can stretch out on the " Baby Beach " or splash in the "Whale Wading Pool." This Hawaiian package favorite resort also has a special kids program that has affectionately become known as " Camp Grande." Workshops, themed days, and arts and crafts sessions are just some of the activities that make up the " Camp Grande " experience. There are day and night camps were the kids are supervised by qualified caretakers giving parents some time to themselves and time to enjoy the resorts many luxuries.

Book The Sheraton

The Sheraton Keauhou Resort (808-930-4900) has just opened its doors after an extensive face lift. This gem in the crown of accommodation is located on an already declared Hawaii family vacation hotspot - South Kona coast. Part of the refurbishment included a new pool complex that will keep the whole family poolside! Forget the standard one level pool; this resort has both an upper and lower level that is connected by a rampant water slide! For the younger ones the resort has constructed a children's play pool, complete with a sandy beach area. While the kids a screaming with delight, parents can enjoy a dip in one of the whirlpool spas. The all inclusive Sheraton goes a step further with regards to their kids packages, by incorporating an educational aspect. Kids are introduced to the culture of the islands and have the opportunity to listen to stories that have stemmed from ancient Hawaii. Families also have the opportunity to go on hikes, mountain bike rides and observe the graceful manta rays that feed in front of the resort at the closing of every day.

Book Kona Village

Next up on the Big Island's ideal family vacation resort poll is The Kona Village Resort (808-325-5555). Located on the west side of the island, not too far from Kona Airport, Kona Village provides the ultimate getaway experience. Families are escorted to their own cottage, which has no TV, radio or phone - and are invited to participate in a number of activities. Whether it be hiking to the ancient petroglyphs, snorkeling the Pacific Ocean, visiting some of the island's active volcanoes, or watching the humpback whales in winter - this is the chance to spend some real quality family time without the disturbances of our over paced everyday lives. The Village has an educational kids program in place, which gives parents a little alone, time to relax. It doesn't end there! Astoundingly, there is also a teen program, which teaches teenagers some unique skills such as sailing, kayaking and snorkeling. Quite clearly Hawaii family vacations don't get much better!

Book Turtle Bay Resort
The Turtle Bay Resort (808-293-6000) has one of the nicest beaches right on its door step. What makes Kuilima Cove on Oahu's North Shore, so great is that it is protected from rough waters and currents by a reef that runs from the resort to Kalaeokamanu. Since it is so highly shielded from ocean swells, Kuilima Cove is on of the best family beaches on Hawaii, and this indeed adds to the Turtle Bay Resort's appeal. The kid's program (Keiki Turtle Club) runs seasonally and includes activities such as:

  • Weaving
  • Hula dancing
  • Lei making and more!

Book Hyatt Regency
Vacations are best spent at the Hyatt Regency (808-742-1234). What makes this resort so popular amongst families, apart from its revamped image, is its extensive and well thought out children's program that gives both parents and children the opportunity to make their most of their vacation. Sure there are action pools, water slides and lagoons but wait till the little ones experience " Adventure Hyatt" This program focuses on the outdoors and brings kids face to face with the real Hawaii, faraway from the realms of cable TV! We are talking kayaking, helicopter rides, ATV rides, horse riding, tubing, zipline hiking and much, much more. Be warned parents you are going to have a tough time getting your kids to leave.
