Stena Line ferries are run by one of the largest and most popular operators in the U.K. Founded by Sten A. Olsson in 1962, it started by servicing one route in western Scandinavia, and now with its extensive fleet offers services on six routes from the U.K and more in the Baltic. Their onboard service for car, foot and freight passengers is well-renowned, as is their fleet of modern high speed and superferries. The jet-powered HSS type ferry, a catamaran the size of a football pitch, provides fast links between the U.K, Ireland and the Netherlands.

Harwich to Hook of Holland: The high speed service (HSS) departs twice daily from Harwich, its three hour 40 minute crossing time making it the fastest surface route to the Netherlands from the UK. Day trips for shopping or just cruising have become popular. The six hour superferry crossing provides daytime and overnight services.

Stranraer to Belfast - Stena runs five crossings every day to Northern Ireland on their HSS service in a time of 105 minutes, making it the quickest crossing on this route. They also operate three crossings daily on their superferry in a more leisurely three hours 15 minutes.

Fleetwood to Larne - A longer crossing to Northern Ireland (eight hours) departs three times a day from Fleetwood, an easy jumping off point from Manchester and the North-west. Stena offer this as a "no-frills" service with limited onboard facilities. It is also unsuitable for some disabled and elderly passengers with only a steep staircase from the car deck to the passenger deck.

Holyhead to Dublin - A popular crossing for day-trippers from both sides of the Irish Sea, especially now with the advent of fast ferry services. Stena's HSS departs four times a day and makes the trip in just 99 minutes, arriving at Dun Laoghaire, Dublin's second port only 20 minutes drive from the city centre. Their superferry leaves twice a day and takes around three hours.to reach the port of Dublin in the city itself.

Fishguard to Rosslare - Stena operate a crossing on their superferry twice a day. The three and a half hour journey takes passengers from south Wales (well connected to souther n U.K. via the M4) to the southeast of the Irish Republic. There is also a fast craft service which makes the same crossing in under two hours.

All Stena Line ferries (except those from Fleetwood) have a range of dining options, from restaurants to more casual food hall style cafeterias. Shops sell the usual range of alcohol, tobacco and cosmetics, often with special seasonal offers, and on international routes there are currency exchange facilities. Disabled passengers are welcomed but should book over the telephone on 08705 70 70 70 if special provisions are required. More information can be found on http://www.stenaline.co.uk.
