The Newhaven Dieppe ferry route suits certain travellers down to the ground. Those who live in easy reach of the ports, either along the south coast of England or in the Dieppe reason, will take advantage of its proximity, and it's great for those who want to avoid the industrial scale conveyor belt crossing at Dover. Certainly the ports of Newhaven and Dieppe as destinations themselves have more to offer in the way of small town charm and character than their bigger rivals. Both ports boast of great travel links with the rest of their respective countries, but it has to be noted that travel to Newhaven is a little more tricky than some of the other ports, and if you're just trying to get from A to B as quickly as possible, especially by rail, you might be better off looking at some of the other options. Nonetheless the frequency of services is good. The following companies operate services on the Newhaven Dieppe ferry route:
Transmanche Ferries - this publicly owned French ferry company was set up to preserve travel and trade links between Dieppe and the south coast of England, and now provides year round crossings every day on its two vessels. There are two departures a day from each port for car, motorcycle and foot passengers as well as freight. The crossing time is around four hours.
Hoverspeed - If you are in more of a hurry you might choose Hoverspeed's high-speed service on one of their catamarans. With up to three departures a day this journey takes just two hours, and their dedicated terminal for boarding cuts down waiting time at each end.
