Vienna has an over abundance of mid-range accommodation and it’s often possible to get a three (or even four) star hotel for as little as € 50 per night. The Hotel Kavalier located at Linzer Strasse 165 is a good example. The hotel is modern four-star option situated in western Vienna near the Schoenbrunn Palace. The hotel’s cosy atmosphere makes it a popular choice year-round so advanced booking is essential. Regular visitors to the Austrian capital will know that Doeblig (otherwise known as the 19th District) constitutes Vienna’s most coveted address. Home to Vienna’s social and political elite; it’s also where you’ll find the four-star Hotel Kaiser Franz Joseph. The hotel‘s elegant weatherboard exterior gives way to a sumptuously decorated antique interior and you’ll find that every conceivable whim is catered for.
Vienna knows a thing or two about luxury and boasts some truly world-class hotels. The Hotel Graben (Dorotheergasse 3) has come a long way since its 18th century roots as a drinking den. Detractors argue that the hotel’s golden days were back in the 1950’s (when it served as a meeting point for writers including Brod and Kafka); however the Graben’s lofty ceilings and art nouveau furnishings exude an undeniable air of old-world charm. More contemporary appetites are catered for at the five-star Plaza Hilton Vienna (Schottenring 11). As you would expect from such a well-regarded international chain the hotel’s list of amenities makes for indulgent reading, yet it’s the La Scala restaurant that’s really the talk of the town.
