Disneyland Paris Weekend City Breaks
Mickey's barely been in Europe for a decade but he's already a made big impression. Disneyland Paris has quickly become one of the continent's most talked about destinations and the best bit it that the magic begins just three hours away.
Walk through Disneyland Paris' gates and you find yourself surrounded by the nostalgia of an early 20th century American town. Horse-drawn trams and vintage cars rattle down Main Street USA, and Mickey and his pals are waiting to greet you.
No matter where you are in Disneyland Paris; the skyline is dominated by Sleeping Beauty's fairytale castle. The slender turrets and icing-sugar pink brickwork provide the ultimate photographic backdrop and help you keep you bearings in each of the five imaginary lands. The castle is the architectural centrepiece of Fantasyland where 'classic' Disney comes to life. Fantasyland is home to Disney's favourite faces and it's where you'll meet the likes of Dumbo, Peter Pan and Pinocchio. Understandably it's a big hit with younger children, and it gives parents a chance to compose themselves before they have their nerves shredded on the rides in neighbouring Adventureland.
Not one for the faint-hearted Adventureland delivers an adrenaline-soaked romp through some of the more remote corners of the world. From lush Jungles to pristine Caribbean beaches Adventureland is bound to bring out the Indiana Jones in everyone. Nearby Frontierland delivers a realistic slice of the Wild West during the heady days of the Gold Rush. Besides testing you aim in the Rustler Roundup Shootin' Gallery you can test your steel on the Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster or unwind on a lazy riverboat sojourn. A short walk (but a million light years) away Discoveryland takes a high-tech look at the future through the eye's of some of our galaxy's best-loved characters. Expect anything from form the icy chills 2000 Leagues under the Sea to the spills of an intergalactic space race with the Star Wars crew.
And that's just the half of it. In 2002 Mickey got a new neighbour: Walt Disney Studios Park, which takes you on an intriguing behind-the-scenes tour of the worlds of animation, cinema and television. Throw in seven themed-hotels, three nine-hole golf courses (to keep the dads happy), plus an impressive collection of restaurants and it's easy to see why Disneyland Paris is Europe's hottest family break.
