Art Otel Budapest
Situated on the Buda riverfront, the Art Otel is an architectural triumph; incorporating four eighteenth century baroque houses and a new building into a single satisfying whole. The renowned American artist Donald Sultan designed the interior and millions of dollars worth of artworks are scattered throughout the hotel. Be sure to ask for a room with a view of Matthias Church or the Fisherman's Bastion and prepare your wallet for some punishment. Tel. 1/487-9487Sofitel Atrium Budapest
The Sofitel Atrium Budapest (formerly the Hyatt Regency) was recently crowned the ‘Greenest hotel in Hungary’. Presumably the award refers to this contemporary building’s eco-friendly credentials; nevertheless you do get the distinct feeling that you’ve arrived in an enormous garden centre. The impressive central atrium climbs ten storeys high, with each balcony dripping luxuriant foliage. However, it’s the view of Castle Hill across the Danube that steals the show. A perennial favourite with budget travellers the Hotel Citedella’s location is to die for. Situated within the old citadel walls perched on top of Gellért Hill the hotel’s views are breathtaking.
