Berlin geographical setting at the heart of Europe means that it has great flight connections with the rest of the continent. However, anyone flying from outside Europe may find that they need to change flights in bigger aviation hub, such as London, Amsterdam of Frankfurt (the latter still handles the lion's share of Germany's intercontinental flights).

Flights to Berlin touch-down in one of three airports. At present Tegel is the capital's busiest airport and handles most of the European and North American traffic (although Schönefeld is in the process of expanding).
Tegel is located just 8km from the city centre and is well-served by public transport. There are a number of buses which regularly make the 25mnute trip into central Berlin, including the: X9, 109 and the marginally more expensive TXL JetExpressBus. Otherwise taxis queue up outside the airport terminal and will take you to your hotel for between € 15-25.
Schönefeld is Berlin's second airport and mostly handles charter flights and traffic from Asia. Formerly East-Berlin's principal airport Schönefeld is located 20km form the city centre. If your budget won't stretch to a cab (and they are quiet pricey) the best bet is to catch a bus to one of the nearby rail stations such as: Zoo S-Bahn or Rudow U-Bahn .
Berlin-Tempelhof is famed as the runway used by allied planes to deliver supplies to the city during the Berlin Airlift. Today it's the quietest of the city's three airports and handles mostly domestic and private flights. It's located virtually in the city centre with good access to bus (catch the 119 to Kurfürstendamm) and rail (Platz Der Luftbrucke U6) networks.
All the major international carriers have daily flights to Berlin (British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa and American Airlines are the most frequent fliers). However, if you have a flexible diary you'll find the best deals on the Internet. Spend some time shopping around and don't forget to see what late deals you can find.
