If you are in and around the area of Hilo Bay you more than likely encounter the remarkable Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Nestled in the bay, guests will appreciate its convenient location to the airport and the low-key town. The hotel’s location also puts it on the doorstep of some of the Big Island’s nicest beaches, in full view of the towering Mauna Kea and a short distance away from the infamous Hawaii National Park and Botanical Gardens.
When compared to the other resorts and hotels it is fair to say that this hotel falls into the “affordable” category. With more than 280 rooms this Big Island hotel has been equipped with a number of amenities designed to add value to any family vacation. Each room comes adorned in comfy island furniture which is complemented by a traditional lanai (balcony.) On top of this rooms are also kitted out with al your everyday modern conveniences such as - fridge, cable television, air con and private telephone as well as an “all-hours” front desk and daily room cleaning service. What about the Hilo Hawaiian’s out of room facilities? To begin with guests will have no problem in finding island transportation as the hotel itself is owned by the Nissan Car Company. Walking round the grounds guests will come face to face with a pool and open sundeck, but a large portion of the guests find themselves drawn to the beach which is the hub for a whole range of water sports.
A great crowd pleaser is the Hilo’s main dining area called The Queens Court which is a buffet style restaurant that prides itself on its “American flavoured” dishes. Guests have become particularly fond of the Sunday champagne brunch! If this is not quite your cup of tea then one can always take a drive into the nearby town of Hilo and sample some of the local diners.
